Team BC Selects Initial Evaluation List Announced

On behalf of the Team BC Selects Coaching staff, we are please to announce the list below that consists of 30 players that have been selected by the coaching staff to be further evaluated during their respective seasons. At the end of the evaluation process, a team of 20 players and 5 alternates will be selected to represent Team BC at the Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Claire, Team BC player, was just announced to suit up for the Victoria HarbourCats this summer. When talking to Claire this morning solely to tell her how proud we all are for her historic signing with the Victoria HarbourCats Collegiate Baseball Club and that there’s no better candidate to do the job in leading the way for Canadian females in baseball, the question came up about what this means to girls coming up through the Baseball BC Female Program, just as she did. Claire confidently stated “if they work hard just know there are opportunities arising and there are possibilities now to continue living the dream of playing baseball”. Yes there is, now in Canada more than ever, thanks to you Claire. We thank you for all your hard work on & off the field, whether in a Baseball BC, Team Canada or UBC (softball) jersey, you are giving others the inspiration & hope showing that women can play baseball too…!!!

Attention Coaches: 9 More NCCP Clinics in June

Baseball BC, the Provincial Sport Organization for baseball in British Columbia, is excited to announce that they will be hosting 9 NCCP clinics in the month of June. Scott Mackenzie, the coordinator of BC’s National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) for baseball, says “the partnerships developed with local baseball associations over the years have evolved into wonderful relationships & NCCP Training is no exception”. Local associations throughout BC have combined to host over 50 NCCP baseball clinics this year so far. Most program delivery focusses on local association relationships resulting in convenient local NCCP access for coaches in that area. “We want to ensure baseball coaches have as many opportunities as possible to gain coaching knowledge, tools & confidence; we believe the NCCP play important roles when developing our youth into great players & respectable adults” adds Scott.

Baseball BC Announcement - Making Ethical Decision Evaluation Module

Baseball Coaches are now required to take only one Making Ethical Decisions (MED) Evaluation in their Coach Certification Process. Previously, Baseball Canada NCCP Certifications required coaches to complete 3 evaluations or 1 MED evaluation per coach stream, currently of which, there are 3 Coach Streams. There are 3 MED evaluations, Competition-Introduction, Competition-Development and Instruction Beginners to match the Baseball Canada’s NCCP Coach Streams (the Community Sport MED evaluation has been eliminated); however, now these evaluations will be appropriately concealed within the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Model. So, when you go to take the MED module now, you will see the LTAD Model displaying the stages and you simply just click on the stage or age you currently are coaching at. Once completed & passed that applicable MED, you will receive MED credit for each & every Baseball Canada NCCP Coach Stream. If you already have credit for one or more of the 3 above MED modules, the system will automatically update your status in the upcoming weeks showing MED credit in each coach stream. It’s beneficial to note that once certified, coaches can complete outstanding MED modules for Professional Development (PD) Points… If you have more questions, contact a Baseball BC representative…

Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) is a systemic approach developed and adopted by Baseball Canada to maximize a participant's potential and involvement in our sport. The LTAD framework aims to define optimal training, competition and recovery throughout an athlete's career. Enabling everyone to reach their full potential in the game of baseball and as an athlete.
