2012 MIDGET AAA SELECTS PROCESS UNDER WAY
May 17, 2012
The road to playing in the Midget AAA All-star Game, and to representing B.C. at nationals in Quebec City, has been laid out in front of the province’s best 16-17-year-old baseball players.
A group of coaches from the highly-respected The Dugout Club have been chosen to lead the team – and a head coach will be determined from an experienced list that includes Lorne LaFleur, Sean Wandler, Bo Boxall and Serj Sangara. The coaching staff now covers all areas of the province in which Midget AAA baseball is played, ensuring B.C.’s top players will be identified and have opportunities to play in these prestigious events.
B.C. Minor Baseball designated these coaches, who have been achieved considerable success in recent years by helping to resurrect the Douglas College baseball program, adding baseball to the Richmond Olympic Oval, and providing strong support to the Vancouver Canadians Baseball Foundation. By continuing the relationship between this coaching staff and the midget program, both B.C. Minor Baseball and The Dugout Club are excited to enhance the overall experience for the athletes and provide unique opportunities for growth in the game of baseball.
A support staff will be established to help the coaches with aspects such as operating the website, running player evaluations, and executing plans around the Midget All-star Game.
Full details on tryout opportunities will be announced.
The Midget AAA All-star Game will take place June 16 at Nat Bailey Stadium in Vancouver, and B.C.’s goal for nationals in Quebec City is the same as any other year – bring the gold medal back to the West Coast, while providing a positive, memorable experience for all.
