Dawson Yates was a standout for the PBL Champion Okanagan Athletics in 2012, now he's headed to Texas.
Yates would hit .368 during the regular season and would lead the A’s into the post season, then ultimately into the Provincial Championship. Yates would hit .400 during the playoffs, on route to the A’s first ever PBL championship title.
Also in 2012 Yates was a member of Team BC’s entry into the Canada Cup, for the best 17 year baseball players in the country. Yates would again power the club with his bat, hitting .414 with two homers and a grand slam to beat Team Quebec in the semi.
2012 got even more sweeter recently has Texas A & M offered Yates a scholarship he couldn’t pass up. He’ll make the move to Texas following the 2013 summer with the A’s.
Ryan Watters caught up with Dawson and talked with him about his decision.
