Baseball BC's Provincial Female Baseball Ambassador

Rebecca Sorbara's appointment as Baseball BC's Provincial Female Baseball Ambassador marks a significant milestone in promoting and developing female participation in baseball across British Columbia. Scott Mackenzie, Baseball BC’s Director of Operations, is confident Sorbara will leverage her extensive experience and passion for the sport to inspire and support female athletes, coaches, officials, and administrators.

Rebecca’s background includes coaching all-girls baseball teams in Burnaby and now at Hastings Little League where she continues promoting girls & women in baseball. This highlights her dedication to fostering female talent in the sport and expanding opportunities for young female athletes in British Columbia, says Mackenzie.

Beyond baseball, she serves as Director at Passive House Canada reflecting her commitment to community development.

As Provincial Female Baseball Ambassador, some of Rebecca’s responsibilities encompass:

  • Leadership: Act as a leader and representative for female baseball in British Columbia, advocating with respect & integrity for increased opportunities and participation.
  • Mentorship and Development: Providing guidance and resources to female athletes and coaches, fostering skill development and confidence.
  • Program Promotion: Advocating for female baseball programs, increasing visibility and participation across the province.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborating with local organizations to create inclusive environments that encourage female involvement in baseball.

This appointment aligns with Baseball BC's mission to grow the game and encourage long-term athlete development by providing female athletes a positive environment and a healthy state of mind.

Rebecca’s leadership is poised to inspire more women and girls to engage with baseball, enriching the sport's diversity and strength in British Columbia.
