November 15, 2016.

Baseball BC and the Western Canada Baseball Association (WCBA), in conjunction with the Kamloops Minor Baseball Association (KMBA), are very excited to announce the host site for the 2017 WCBA Championships to be held in BC next summer.

Kamloops Minor Baseball Association has been awarded the championships, scheduled to be held August 17 to 20 at the McArthur Island Park facility in the Canada's Tournament Capital.

These championships will be made up of the following divisions of play…

- 15U AAA Boys
- 13U AA Boys
- 15U AA Boys
- 18U AA Boys
- 14U Girls

In all 25 teams, representing the western provinces of BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, will meet in Kamloops to vie for Western Canada Baseball supremacy.

Kamloops Minor Baseball has hosted numerous championships for both Baseball BC and the WCBA in the past and is well situated to handle this single site event.  Baseball BC Executive Director David Laing is on record as saying that “the KMBA is the single best organization in the province when it comes to hosting championships at any level”, “and that based on recent history, the team of Chris Balison, Sean Wandler and Stacey Matkowski along with everyone at KMBA, make this opportunity possible.”

KMBA recently hosted the Baseball BC Provincial Championships in 2016 where a total of 21 teams participated over three divisions and did a truly amazing job on the event along with their partners, the City of Kamloops.

Baseball BC President John Berry says that “the community backing in a city like Kamloops along with the legacy created by events like the 2016 Baseball BC Provincials and the 2017 WCBA Championships are important to both the community as well as our sport in general.”

Further details on this event will be announced as they are finalized in the months to come.

Inquiries are directed to the Baseball BC office at 604-586-3312.
